Welcome to The Advanced Diploma in Cosmetic Science! This course is designed for those who want to become a cosmetic manufacturer or have their own brand. It is our most comprehensive and extensive curriculum. If you’re a beginner, don’t worry – we’ll start you off at the appropriate level. The Advanced Diploma in Cosmetic Science combines various fields including science, consumer marketing, biology, chemistry, accounting, law, pharmacology, and physics, but don’t worry. Everything is explained in the context of the cosmetic industry. We have created this course with the aim of providing you with all the necessary knowledge to succeed in this industry.
The Advanced Diploma in Cosmetic Science and Skin Lightening covers four (4) crucial aspects, namely
- Consumer Science: This is about understanding consumers’ desires and designing products that meet their needs, which is crucial for market success in the cosmetics industry.
- Human Biology: Understanding how the skin and hair function is crucial because it helps in knowing how different raw materials can affect them. This is particularly important because these are the areas where products are applied. Our lectures provide comprehensive information on various skincare and hair care concerns, such as skin brightening and lightening anti-ageing, anti-acne, men’s and baby care, and ethnic hair concerns. Understanding these conditions will help you select the most effective ingredients and create safe and effective formulations.
- Product Science: If you want to create products that are safe, effective and stable, it is important to have an understanding of formulation science. This science covers the selection and combination of ingredients, the chemical reactions involved and the science behind raw materials. By learning about formulation science, you will be able to ensure that your products are safe and effective. Additionally, we provide training on stability testing so that you can determine which tests are necessary, which can be conducted in-house and which need to be outsourced. We also teach you the minimum requirements for each formulation type when you are on a budget. With our training, you will be able to formulate over 50 different cosmetic products, including highly-active cosmeceuticals
- Regulatory Guidelines and Requirements: Depending on the laws of your region, there are specific rules and regulations that cosmetic businesses must adhere to protect consumers, and the environment and maintain fair competition in the market. As a brand owner or manager, it is crucial to understand your responsibilities and ensure compliance with the legislative requirements. We can guide you on how to access and research the most relevant databases in the industry to help you stay within legal boundaries.
Let’s not forget technical lab skills! Yes, there is more to it. Also, as a course bonus, we will be teaching you a little accounting – How to price your product right, what other factors you need to allocate to your costs, such as research and development (R&D), packaging and production costs, etc.
This course does require time investment – these are workplace skills you cannot do without! As always, we are here to help you if you ever get stuck!
